Nigerian Christmas Music - 2010

So I had a posting on this last year and could not really find much to point to in terms of music for the season from the homeland. However, it appears that our musicians are beginning to step up to the plate.

My favorite this year would be this masterpiece from Tosin Martins. When  I saw the title "Silent Night", I groaned and wondered if it would be another cheesy remake of the classic song. Boy was I wrong! This can  only be described as absolutely brilliant!

Then there is the star studded song commissioned  by Ovation magazine, which is becoming a yearly tradition I suppose. Last year's song was also a starfest. While I am not a fan of the magazine, the song is pretty catchy. Here is "Christmas is green".

Then there is "Thank GOD its Christmas" by Skales. Its a hiphop christmas song, and I really like it. Listen to it here.

The urbertalented Yemi Alade has also recently  released  this Christmas song "Xmas in the air". Homegirl has a powerful voice dang! It is available for free download here. Note: for some reason it won't play unless you download it.
 

Finally, we have a cover of the popular Christmas tune "Me and my drum" by Christine Ben-Ameh. Nicely done! You can also listen to it and download it here.

That was all I was able to scrounge up this year. I will update this post if anything else comes out before the end of the year.
